Jim Morris’ Fishing report for Nov. 24

Paint Creek Lake: Crappie fishing has been outstanding with fish up to 14 inches being caught. Anglers are using minnows or white tubes, fishing 4-6 feet deep around the campground or about 10 feet deep with black/chartreuse jigs in the south end of the lake. Bass have been hitting brown jigs with a trailer, 4-6 feet deep around rocks. Spillway fishing has been very good for saugeyes with chartreuse jigs and twisters or crappies with minnows fished under a bobber.

Rocky Fork Lake: Bass fishing continues to be very good. Work the logs and stumps with 4-inch green/pumpkin worms. Crappie fishing has been picking up. Fish around laydowns and find underwater structure in 14-15 feet of water. Kelly's Cove has been a good spot with crappies about 8 feet deep.

C.J. Brown Reservoir: Windy conditions have kept boaters off of the lake, so almost all of the fishing has been off of the banks or docks. Fish around the marina for crappies with jigs or minnows and use an ice jig tipped with a spike or waxworm to catch bluegills. Catfish are being caught off of the rocks near the dam, mostly on nightcrawlers.

Indian Lake: The best action has been in the spillway where some nice saugeyes have been caught on twisters and Husky Jerks. A 9-pounder was caught and released this week. Saugeyes are also being caught by bank fishermen in the lake. Moundwood, Oldfield and Dream Bridge have been good spots. Catfish are being caught off of Moundwood on nightcrawlers and a few white bass have been caught under Dream Bridge.

Grand Lake St. Marys: Crappies are biting in the channels around docks and boat lifts. Use minnows or jigs. Catfish are hitting all over the lake on cut shad, nightcrawlers and shrimp. Fish for bluegills in the brush with waxworms or redworms.

Caesar Creek Lake: Anglers are catching saugeyes by trolling worm harnesses around the island. Crappies are hitting minnows fished around structure, 15-16 feet deep. Try musky fishing at Flatt Fork, just west of the Wellman ramp or the mouth of Jonah's Run.

Lake Loramie: Fish the brush and lily pads to catch crappies. Minnows or black/chartreuse jigs have worked best. Bluegills are close to the banks, hitting ice jigs tipped with waxworms. The recent rain has filled the spillway, bringing on good saugeye fishing. Use black, chartreuse or white twisters. Saugeye fishing has also been good in the main lake around bridges with the Luthman Road bridge as the best spot.

Lake Erie: Poor weather conditions have limited fishing. Near-shore walleye fishing should improve as the lake clears and the wind subsides.
