This is not the West Coast or New York. This is Middle America. We do not want to see articles about homosexuals on Mother's Day or any other day. Keep that trash out of the paper.
I am writing in complete support of the article about the Wittenburg coaches' Mothers Day. It is so refreshing in this day to witness the total love and unselfish devotion that these two women have given to this little girl. These women truly set an example of what love and motherhood should be about. They are both wonderful people and have given Donyale happiness and so many doors to a future that she would have never had. I would only hope that people can look beyond the traditional family and see the opportunities and love these two women are sharing with Donyale. It is something to be admired by all.
Michael Cooper's article about the coaches of the Wittenberg softball team was despicable.
It was great to read the article about the couple who adopted a little girl. It makes me smile to think that in Springfield, every family is treated equal (even though they are not ... not yet). The article inspired me and gave me hope that the next generation will be smarter and more tolerant of differences among us.
It may not take a whole village to raise a child, but having two loving, happy, nurturing parents helps — regardless of their gender. Thank you, News-Sun, for giving us an opportunity to support same-sex parents here in our "village."
I cancelled my subscription due to your Mother's Day story.
Re the "Adoption changes life for Wittenberg softball coaches" article. I found it very touching and hope that it motivates others to get involved in the lives of abandoned and underprivileged children. I am sure you may be getting some grief from some for featuring a same-sex couple, but heroes come in every shape, size and sexual orientation. Awesome job!
This liberal paper has chosen to portray lesbians to honor mothers on Mother's Day. What about the mothers that had our children the routine way? We are actually real mothers. Do not support this lifestyle. We do not want to see it in the paper.
How awesome is it when on Mother's Day, our local paper features the story of a family with two mothers. A step in the right direction, indeed. I am a proud subscriber of the Springfield News-Sun.
With all the real mothers there are, you pick two white lesbians adopting a black child to headline the paper on Mother's Day?
For anybody to turn an article about a couple bringing a child into a warm, loving and safe environment from a very difficult life, into a bad thing, because of race or orientation, boggles the mind. Do not be deterred by detractors. Becky and Jodi are living the Wittenberg mantra, "Having the Light, We Pass it On," and by writing about it, I believe you will light the darkness in some people's hearts.
I read the article and I wish there were more people willing to step out and help young kids. When society is failing the youth in our country, two people decide to commit to helping one child, and there are people in this world that have a problem with this couple adopting a child. I know Jodi and Donyale, and I am taken aback by how happy Donyale is. I would have never known that they have only been together a couple of years. It seems like they have been together forever! Anyone who wants to judge negatively should see Jodi and Donyale together. Jodi, the Steeles are here for you.
I just have to write in support of Jodi and Becky. I have known these wonderful women since 1993, when I was a sophomore in college. They are two of the most caring, fun-loving, supportive, amazing women. Donyale is such a lucky little girl to have found a loving home and two parents who take care of her, and nurture her. I appreciate Michael Cooper and his article about my friends and their wonderful family.
I have to admit that when I went for my normal Sunday paper for coupons, I was thoroughly impressed that Springfield has evolved and grown enough to run this amazing story on the front page of the city's newspaper. Way to go, Springfield! Let's continue in the forward direction.
