A Clark County traveling beauty brigade and one of Dayton’s largest party rental companies will be featured on a new Netflix series premiering July 1.

GLAM on the Go, llc., an Enon-based business that brings hair and make-up services to weddings and special events, will be part of episodes two and four of “Say I Do,” a show that surprises deserving couples with a wedding.

“Each episode, they surprise a deserving couple and by the end of the week they’ve put this over-the-top wedding together for them and their family and friends,” GLAM on the Go, llc. Owner and Stylist Heather Mercuri said. “It’s such a good feel-good show.”

Prime Time Party Rental was also tapped to work on the series and provided all the sets, props and furniture for all eight episodes of the upcoming Netflix series.

“Say I Do” was created by the producers of “Queer Eye,” another Netflix series.

Mercuri explained that she received a phone call last year from a producer looking for a team of artists for “Say I Do.” At first she said she was “super skeptical,” but after a few Skype conferences and research, she became on board.

“They found me through WeddingWire and some of the other search engines out there,” Mercuri said.

Prime Time Party Rental owner Bart Nye had a similar story. Producers of the show mentioned they saw Prime Time’s inventory and were excited to work with the business.

Mercuri collaborated with fashion designer Thai Nguyen to decide what hair and make-up vibes would best complement his creations.

Interior Designer Jeremiah Brent worked with Bart Nye and  his team at Prime Time to storyboard and then create the sets and decor for each episode. The other celebrity guest on the show was Chef Gabriele Bertaccini.

Mercuri and her team of hairstylists and make-up artists traveled to Indiana and Cincinnati to film the show. Mercuri explained that she was expecting to be behind the scenes, but they immediately put mics on. The producers said “cut” and “we need more energy” during the filming process, just like you would expect.

“Each bride we spent time with — just like we normally do on a wedding day,” Mercuri said. “We spent the entire day with the bridal party. We really got to know them. We were there with all of their emotions and feelings.”

Mercuri said she and her team filmed for two 10-12 hour days.

Nye and his crew at Prime Time’s schedule was quite extensive, he said. They would receive a rough sketch of the concept for the wedding on Wednesday, and then worked around the clock until Saturday to get all the furniture and props procured or created, and then set up right down to the china and small decor details.

“We were really impressed with what we were able to do, and I’ve been doing this for 24 years,” Nye told us. “We had to really push ourselves. We did crazy things like wrap a dance floor in gold, which we had never done before. We felt lucky and relieved we could pull it off!”

Bart Nye, Prime Time Party Rental Inc. owner, is seated in a section of his showroom which will move to a new, expanded location in West Carrollton, with the goal of doubling its business over the next three years, Nye said Friday. The party rental company will move to an 86,000-square-foot facility at 5225 Springboro Pike, where it plans to add another 12,000 square feet of space, Nye said. Mercuri had similar feelings. “It was scary and it just felt unbelievable — like I just couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I still can’t quite believe it.”

Mercuri started Glam on the Go, llc. three years ago as a side business as she continues to work at Dezigns by Tonya in Enon, where she has worked for 22 years. She is also a graduate of Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (previously called the Springfield-Clark County Joint Vocational School) and began working at Dezigns by Tonya in high school.

She said she started Glam on the Go, llc. because she enjoys being a significant part of a bride’s wedding day and “giving them that special day.”

Being a part of the Netflix series proved that the work they do at Glam on the Go, llc. stands out, Mercuri said.

“Being from Enon, and being from somewhere so small, but knowing the work that I’ve done over the course of my career and the networking I’ve done for just my small business has had such a huge reach. It’s just so cool to see it come to life,” Mercuri said.

She added, “This is such a great feeling because we are having a rough year with COVID-19. The amount of weddings we have is cut down significantly for this year. This was a good uplifting, positive note to end on.”
