This blessing of laughter is within us, and we become blessed when it’s expressed.
Laughter truly is the best medicine. It’s infectious, contagious, priceless, fun and free.
I love to laugh and be happy. My laughter and happiness is definitely not because of surface situations. It seems like my life has been full of suffering. But I am learning that joy is expressed through my laughter and happiness.
Overall, I am a serious person who works hard to inspire others, but I am always being told that I am funny, silly and at times goofy. I have to be. Living life without seeing the lighter side, coupled with all of life’s stress, can take a person to an early grave.
I remember going through a very painful experience, the death of my father. I was in shock. It was devastating to have grown up without him and then to lose him after reconciling later in life. I was angry, and grief attempted to consume me. But along the way, I would cover up my pain by chuckling and laughing at any and everything that looked or sounded funny. It made me feel better.
I soon discovered out of my weakness that the joy of the Lord truly became my strength. The rewards: the peace of God, frisky crow feet and groovy laugh lines.
In the midst of tears, laugh. Look for the humor and smile. Even better, laugh with an open mouth on purpose because God is with us.
It’s a fact. If we are not anchored in what the word of God says about us, we will be challenged to laugh, especially at ourselves.
Let us loosen our grip on living life by trusting God, especially about what people think or say about us. By faith, it’s sure to create a domino effect of hope and joy, expressed through a peculiar happiness. God said we are a peculiar people. Let’s become what he says we are. To live with hope:
• Loosen your grip on living life.
• Laugh at yourself.
• Remember we are in this world, but by faith we are not of this world.
• Laughing is fun and free.
