With hopes for better weather, Hot Rods & Harleys 2017 will be just like starting over when it returns 2-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 in Veterans Park. Admission is free.
“Wouldn’t you know that was the only time in all those years we had bad weather,” said Brian Cubbage of Mid-Ohio Harley-Davidson. “We hope people will come back and have the same good time.”
Cubbage said it’s a community event designed to offer things for a variety of different people and a fun place where people reunite and see friends and neighbors.
Here’s what to expect:
Cars, hot rods, motorcycles: One of the highlights will be the cruise-in with numerous classic cars and hot rods along with motorcycles with an emphasis on Harleys.
Food: Three food trucks will be back, while the Springfield Ohio Chapter 3872 Harley Owners Group will offer beverages with proceeds going toward fundraising efforts.
Music: The L.A. Band and Above the Law will be back to add to the atmosphere with live music. Cubbage said the bands still being able to perform on the Turner Pavilion stage despite the rain last year was one of the bright spots.
The park atmosphere complements Hot Rods & Harleys since there is more control and just a way to capture the summer according to Cubbage.
Free parking will be available at the Springfield Museum of Art and the Kissell Center lot and shuttles will run all day to those areas. Anyone participating in the event is asked to use the park’s Plum Street entrance.
