Background/overview

The Stables Restaurant stands on property that once was a horse farm. Dan D’Arrigo built Windy Knoll in 2001 and was its owner for about a decade until his wife died and the land was put into receivership.

Dave and Pete Duffey have been part of the Windy Knoll management for many years. The father-and-son team formulated their company, Nostalgic Golf L.L.C., with partner and cousin Nick Tiller and then purchased two parcels of the land they love from receivership in 2012. Soon thereafter, the new owners expanded The Stables at Windy Knoll to become a full-service restaurant with a covered patio.

Sue Avery is the food and beverage manager at The Stables, and has worked at the restaurant for 13 years. Her sister Barb has helped her for many years with the day-to-day serving tasks at the restaurant, full bar and banquet facility. Sue boasts that on The Stables menu, “We have awesome pizza and great sandwiches and salads.”

Appetizers: Greek salad pinwheels or Pub Pretzels (three)-$5.99; Bucket O’ Balls (six, meatballs)-$6.99; boom boom shrimp (eight, deep fried & covered w/ spicy cheese)-$9.99.

A “senior early bird special” coupon for 10 percent off any entree from 4-6 p.m. can be downloaded from the website.

Reservations are only necessary for parties of 12 or more guests. The covered patio is now open with seating for 20.

July 7 brings singer-songwriter Griffin House to the 18th green at “The Knoll.” His opening act will be Patrick Dawson. Tickets are on sale now at The Stables for $15. Reservations are required for this event.
