Summer camp fun isn’t just for the kiddies anymore. Now the big kids at heart can compete in Big Wheel races, rock, paper scissors tournaments and couch potato parkour, and even camp out if they choose.

The Mother of All Adventure Weekends will turn Mother Stewart’s Brewing Co. into a pop-up campground and playground, Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 with activities for everybody from the athletic to those who prefer their excitement from the comfort of a bar stool.

Co-hosted with Tomfoolery Outdoors, which specializes in bringing adventurous games and activities to adults, it fits into Mother’s vision of setting itself apart in Springfield.

“We’re trying to do some outside-the-box stuff and this will be interesting,” said Kevin Loftis, co-owner of Mother Stewart’s.

Part of the fun will be the variety of activities, most of which are free. The brewery will be open at noon on Saturday and activities will go until closing time at 11 p.m. with yard games, a camping expo, competitions, food trucks and live entertainment among the options.

A few other events off the grounds will be offered before the event and throughout the day.

Mother’s will introduce new beers including:

  • Weekend Warrior, a light post-adventure brew
  • Imperial DeBubba, an Imperial IPA
  • Gringo Star, a tequila barrel-aged wit

For a fee, camping enthusiasts can stay overnight at the Brewery in tents, on hammocks or on the floor. It will include an after-hours pizza party, beer fairy visit and live music, followed by a pancake breakfast by Chris Cakes Ohio in the morning.

A yoga event for a fee at 11 a.m. will open Sunday’s activities. The brewery will open to everyone at noon and activities will pick back up again until 9 p.m.

Loftis stressed that the brewery will still be open for regular business in addition to the activities and anyone can come at any time to join in.

“This is really quirky, fun adventure stuff. We’ll do everything and anything to offer different things to Springfield,” he said.
