Background/overview
The Farm Restaurant is in a log cabin that was a stagecoach stop on the Old National Trail more than two hundred years ago. Through time, it became a family home, a spaghetti house, a tavern and at some point (widespread rumor has it) a brothel.
In recent past, the Malone family owned and operated the restaurant before they closed its business. The cabin sat idle for two years, and was in desperate need of repairs to save the historic site. Molly Malone reached out to her friend Jennifer Comer Miller to invite her to purchase the property. Jennifer is well known in the community for her previous restaurateur work for many years with her mentor, Jerry Maddux, at Simply Delicious Restaurant and Caterer. Jennifer then taught Culinary Arts at Dayton Job Corps.
Jennifer and her husband, Randy Miller, now own The Farm. Randy and friends have done most of the general renovations, and Jennifer says, “As long as we’re here we’re going to continue to restore this building.”
With a menu the new owners describe as “home-style with a little gourmet touch,” The Farm Restaurant & Patio reopened Oct. 15.
