Good news for Mexican food lovers in Springfield — a new option is coming your way.

Victor’s Taco Shop, an authentic Mexican restaurant chain based out of Delaware, Ohio, will be opening soon. The location will fill the vacancy left by the former Krispy Krunchy Chicken location at 1929 E. Main St.

Owner Hector Gonzales said the restaurant focuses on fresh, fast Mexican food and provides a lot of options for diners.

“We have lots of combos,” he said. “There’s burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas and a lot more that we offer.”

Victor’s has a location in Marion, as well as three other locations in Dayton, Xenia and Huber Heights. Gonzales said a lot of fans of the restaurant have been wanting the chain to come to Springfield for a while, so when a realtor contacted him about the East Main Street location, he went for it.

“We feel really good about the customer base here,” he said. “It seemed like a good fit.”

Springfield’s location will be unique, as it will be the first with a drive-thru option, as well as a sit-in dining area. Gonzales said it’s something he’s wanted to have in one of his restaurants for a while.

“I’m very excited about it,” he said.

The restaurant is currently undergoing inspections, Gonzales said, and will likely open within a few weeks. He said the new restaurant will begin taking applications a week before it opens.

Gonzales said he’s excited for the new location to open and looks forward to serving new customers in Springfield.

“It’s lots of fresh, fast food at good prices,” he said. “I hope people will enjoy it.”
