Local company making shelters for Air Force

CENTERVILLE — SelectTech Services Corp. said it has a $2.5 million, one-year contract to design, test and build ground stations for the Air Force Research Laboratory for use in Afghanistan.

The work is being done through a subcontract from Science Applications International Corp., the prime contractor for the agreement with the Air Force, said Scott Sullivan, president of SelectTech.

The ground stations are to include modular units for use as personnel shelters and computer shelters in the combat zone, Sullivan said.

The work on the ground stations is being done at the SelectTech GeoSpatial manufacturing plant in Springfield. The company is inviting elected officials and community leaders to a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, for the Springfield facility.
