Speedway will hire more than 100 workers across Ohio, including locations in Springfield, Urbana and Dayton, company officials said Thursday.

Most of the positions are entry-level including shift leader trainees, customer service representatives and food service specialists. The convenience store chain, based in Enon, will host job fairs at several locations across Western Ohio from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

Candidates are being asked to attend the job fair in person. But those unable to attend can visit www.speedway.com or visit a Speedway location for additional information.

Along with Springfield and Urbana, the chain will also host hiring events in Beavercreek, Lima, Troy, Sidney, Piqua and Bellefontaine, among other locations.

The company’s headquarters is in Enon, and Speedway’s growth benefits Clark County, said Horton Hobbs, vice president of economic development for the Chamber of Greater Springfield.

“They have provided a lot of stability to our economy,” Hobbs said.

Speedway had previously completed a $2.8 billion acquisition of Hess Retail, an East Coast convenience store chain. The deal roughly doubled the size of the Speedway chain, making it the largest company-owned convenience store chain in the U.S. based on revenue.

It is one of the biggest employers in Clark County. Speedway had already employed about 800 workers at its Enon headquarters before the Hess acquisition, but promised to add an additional 350 corporate jobs over three years as part of the deal.
