Code Blue, a downtown Springfield company in the process of hiring more than 150 people, sent out ”dozens” of offer letters following a recent job fair, company officials said.

The letters were sent out after nearly one hundred job inteviews were conducted as a result of the early June job fair held in partnership with Ohio Means Jobs, according to Code Blue officials.

“The turnout was incredible and our team did an amazing job,” said Nancy Puerner, human resources manager for Code Blue. “Some say it takes a village to raise a child, but I say it takes a village to hire 40 new associates in a week.”

Puerner said the fair was the, “first step,” in the companies plan to bring over 150 jobs to Springfield.

Code Blue, a water mitigation firm that manages claims nationwide, announced in April they were planning to hire 169 new positions at the company’s downtown Springfield office.

At the time of that announcement, Code Blue founder Paul Gross said the company wanted to fill the positions as quickly as possible, and would provide in-house training for all positions.

“We want to move as fast as we can - fast but not too fast that we can’t get the people acclimated if we are providing training and teaching them a new job,” Gross said.

The job additions are result of a transformation the company has undergone since Gross and CEO Dan Wilson purchased the business in February of last year, Gross said previously.

Gross helped to create Code Blue and served as CEO before stepping down to spend more time working on his retirement community in Madison County in 2015.

Gross and Wilson acquired the majority share in parent company Insurance Claims Management, Inc. as part of an investor group that acquired all the equity and assests of the company in a cash deal last year.

Since then, the company has made, “significant management changes,” by introducing new products that resonate with the marketplace and promoting from within in order to bring in outside talent, Gross said.

With the addition of the new jobs, Code Blue will have about 350 employees, making it one of the largest employers in Springfield’s downtown district, Springfied City Manager Bryan Heck said previously.

“They’ve been a big part of the downtown revitalization in our community as it is not only located in Springfield, but they’ve located in a historic building in our downtown,” Heck said. “The addition of these jobs is a big win for our community and show the continued momentum that we have built in our community.”

Despite the high turnout, Code Blue is still hiring for some positions. Those interested in applying can email a resume to nancy.puerner@codeblue360.com.
