CarMax hiring here and elsewhere

Used car retailer CarMax Inc. is looking for nearly 1,000 qualified new employees nationwide, including six for its West Carrollton store, the company said.

The Richmond, Va.-based company is recruiting for more than 965 positions across the country. Most of those jobs will be in sales and service operations, including detailers and experienced technicians, with more positions in purchasing and business offices, the company said.

Elia Imler, a spokeswoman for the company, said the company is gearing up for what it expects to be a busier spring and summer shopping season. A similar hiring push happened in November 2010, she said.

“We are hiring to prepare for the traditionally busy spring and summer car-buying season,” Imler said. “These are permanent jobs though, not seasonal or temporary.”

The local openings are in “sales, service operations, business office and one administrative position,” Imler said.

Job-seekers should apply online at www.carmax.com/careers . CarMax said it will contact applicants and set up interviews after a review of applications.

The company opened its $19 million car lot northwest of the Interstate 75-Ohio 725 interchange in June 2010 with about 54 employees.
