A 5-foot-11 guard/forward, it was an especially rewarding season for Erwin because she missed her junior season following an ACL knee injury and surgery. Southeastern (17-7) was third in the Ohio Heritage Conference and lost 42-38 to Covington in a D-IV sectional final.
Erwin averaged a team-high 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals. She was the OHC player of the year, a District 9 media selection and is an Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association North/South game alternate.
Erwin has signed to play basketball at Bethel College (NAIA) in Mishawaka, Ind.
Bolender, a 5-10 guard, averaged 18.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists. She’s a three-time, first team All-OHC selection and surpassed 1,300 career points this season.
Led by Bolender, the Indians won the OHC South Division, Cedarville’s first conference championship since 1978. Top-seeded Cedarville (21-4) defeated Cincinnati Country Day 39-26 to also win a D-IV sectional title. Tri-Village defeated Cedarville 49-42 in a district final.
Berlin Hiland swept D-IV All-Ohio player and coach of the year honors. Hiland’s Angela Troyer, a 5-9 senior, was the player of the year. She averaged 19 points.
Hiland’s Dave Schlabach was the coach of the year. Hiland (27-1) was the AP state poll champion and will play Ottoville in the D-IV state semifinals at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center in Columbus on Thursday.
Players were nominated by coaches and voted on at six district levels by media panels. The All-Ohio teams were selected by the Associated Press based on district teams.
Girls Divisions II-III All-Ohio teams will be announced on Tuesday and D-I and Ms. Basketball on Wednesday. Boys All-Ohio teams and Mr. Basketball will be released next week.
