College Football: Witt spots Hiram early score, rolls from there

Danny Robinson sprinted 75 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the game Saturday to give host Hiram a quick lead over Wittenberg.

It was all Tigers after that.

Wittenberg followed the early Hiram score with 59 of the next 62 points on its way to a 59-17 North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Terriers at Henry Field.

The 14th-ranked Tigers improve to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC. Hiram fell to 1-4, 0-4.

Quarterback Jake Kennedy led the way for Witt. The junior completed 16 of 25 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those scores came in the first half as the Tigers built a 38-10 lead at the break.

Kennedy tossed a pair of scores to Liam Duncan, who finished with four catches for 142 yards. Bryce Bailey and Logan Kirby also had TD receptions.

Nick Kendall rushed for 110 yards and a score. DeShawn Sarley, Jaheem Washington and Ryan Fallon added rushing TDs.

Witt totaled 521 yards (279 passing, 242 rushing) and 28 first downs. The Tigers’ Keenan Wilson returned an interception for a TD.

Robinson finished with 212 yards rushing for the Terriers.

Witt returns home next Saturday to host Allegheny at 1 p.m.
