Alcohol believed to a factor in Bethel Twp. crash that leaves one dead, authorities say

One person is dead after a crash at US Route 40 and state Route 235 in Bethel Twp., a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a release. The victim was transported via to Miami Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, OHSP officials reported.

At approximately 9:13 a.m., a 2019 Hyundai Elantra driven by James C. Williams, 74, of New Carlisle, Ohio was traveling southbound on State Route 235 and a 2007 Nissan Titan driven by William G. Evans, 50, of Blacklick Ohio traveling eastbound on Us 40 collided in the intersection.

Williams was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries before he was pronounced dead. Evans was transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is now known.

The crash occurred at state Route 235 and West National Road. The intersection was closed for about an hour, the release stated. The Bethel Twp. Fire Department and EMS, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Springfield post of the OSHP all responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield post.
