3 things to know about Clark-Shawnee baseball team investigation

An ongoing harassment investigation is taking place at Shawnee High School after the boys baseball team returned from the team’s spring break trip to Tennessee last week.

Here are three things to know:

A parent who wishes to remain anonymous said her son was one of the players on the trip and said he was near the alleged incident. She said he told her he witnessed older students allegedly harassing younger players, including physically assaulting them.

During the trip, a coach received reports of incidents that went against student values, which prompted the school to open an internal investigation. On Tuesday, the school requested assistance from the sheriff regarding a harassment investigation.

Multiple Shawnee baseball games were cancelled due to the investigation. Superintendent Gregg Morris and local school leaders are now trying to decide if and when the team might be able to take the field again.
