A blue Hyundai sedan, driven by Christopher Stutz, of Urbana, was traveling south on Ohio 54 and attempted to turn left on Shortcut Road, deputies said in a media release. The sedan turned in front of a maroon Ford Explorer SUV that was traveling north on Ohio 54 and caused a head-on crash, according to investigators.
Stutz was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by a CareFlight medical helicopter for treatment. He has since been discharged from the hospital, according to a hospital representative.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Tomara Shoemaker, or Urbana Twp., and her two children who were also in the vehicle, were transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The condition of Shoemaker and her children were not released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

At least one person was transported by a CareFlight medical helicopter to an area hospital after a head-on crash south of Urbana Tuesday morning.

Three people, including two children were traveling in one of the vehicles involved in the crash on Ohio 54 near Short Cut Road. The driver of the other vehicle was the only occupant, according to deputies.
Investigators did not indicate which victim was airlifted and the conditions of those involved in the crash were not released.
Ohio 54 is shut down in both directions and Short Cut Road is blocked at Ohio 54.

FIRST REPORT
A CareFlight medical helicopter has been requested to the scene of a reported head-on crash south of Urbana Tuesday morning, according to initial reports.
Crews were dispatched to the 1100 block of Ohio 54, near Short Cut Road, around 9:35 a.m. on reports of a head-on crash.
At least two ground ambulances and a CareFlight medical helicopter were requested to the scene. The conditions of those involved in the crash were not immediately known.
