DETAILS: Springfield doctor charged in national health care fraud sting
A 12-year-old boy allegedly was found along the 900 block of Essex Street, crying and yelling, “What did I do wrong,” police said.
The 9-1-1 caller became concerned, according to a police report, because the boy was alone for about 45 minutes with no adults around.
Officers arrived on the scene and said they found the child against a tree stump crying and upset.

He led officers to his home, where police alleged they three found more children alone, the kitchen with a sink full of dirty dishes with flies and gnats, and little to no food in the house. The toilet allegedly was filled with feces and a mattress with no sheets or blankets.
Police contacted Nutt by phone and waited for her to return but called Children’s Services when she allegedly didn’t show up after an hour.
Nutt eventually arrived at the home with another child and was arrested. Arrest warrants were issued for two other adults who live in the home, both Dustin Nutt and Angela Nutt.
Children’s Services removed all five children from the home.
