Lavenna S. Taylor, 40, and Kaylee J. Lucero, 23, were indicted Monday on charges of illegal use of food stamps, a fifth-degree felony.
The Ohio Investigative Unit began investigating the women after it was contacted by the Springfield Police Division about a possible fraud in June.
The card in question belonged to a special needs individual, according to the state. During the investigation, state agents determined that the card was found by Lucero, who then allegedly traded the card to Taylor for cocaine, according to the unit.

If convicted, Taylor and Lucero could face up to 18 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. They will be arraigned in Clark County Common Pleas Court at 10 a.m. Friday before Judge Douglas Rastatter, according to court records. Neither woman was listed as an inmate in the Clark County Jail on Wednesday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Ohio Investigative Unit agents are plain-clothed fully sworn peace officers. The unit enforces state liquor laws, as well as food stamp fraud and tobacco violation investigations.
To report individuals misusing food stamps, call the unit at #677.
