Kimberly L. Powell, 36, of 826 Eastmoor Drive, has been charged with making false alarms about an accident that occurred earlier this year. She was scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. today.

On May 7, Powell called police to file a two-vehicle accident, claiming to be the victim. She allegedly told police she was driving north on Burt Street when another car pulled out in front of her near East Pleasant Street. She told police she swerved, but was unable to miss the vehicle, which fled the scene, according to a police report.

Powell’s car was missing its front drivers side tire, which officers could not find at the scene. Officers asked Powell if she was being honest about her claim, but she was adamant about how and where it happened, the report said.

The following day, another hit skip accident was reported at Valco Industries, 625 Burt St. An employee reported an accident likely occurred between 6 p.m. on May 5 and 4 a.m. on May 8, the report said. It appeared the driver was traveling south on Burt Street and drove off the west side of the road, striking a fence and causing damage to a concrete wall. Officers were able to match evidence from the accident with Powell’s vehicle and attempted to contact her, the report said.
