Springfield man, woman accused of firing gun in home with 4 kids

A Springfield man and woman were arrested early Saturday morning after police alleged they shot a gun into the ground while they were intoxicated with children in the home.

Marissa E. Bowers, 25, and James T. Harris, 38, both face charges of using weapons while intoxicated and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

Both were scheduled to appear in Clark County Municipal Court this morning.

Officers were called to a home in the 100 block of East Home Road on a report of several shots fired. When they arrived on scene, they heard loud music and people arguing inside the house, according to court records.

Witnesses told police they allegedly saw two people firing a handgun in the backyard, according to court records. Police searched the area and allegedly found several bullet casings near the back porch and nearby concrete. They allegedly retrieved a Glock handgun from Bowers, court records say.

Officers placed the four children who were in the home at the time of the incident in the care of a relative.
