Jessy Doty, 28, of 859 Southfield Ave., was charged with using weapons while intoxicated. He plead not guilty in the Clark County Municipal Court on Wednesday morning.
Doty confronted a woman who was repeatedly honking her horn outside of his home earlier in the evening, according to a police report. As they began arguing, a man from across the street walked toward the vehicle. A witness told police she heard the man rack a shotgun, which led to Doty pulling out his firearm. A group of neighbors broke up the argument and Doty went back inside the residence.

Doty later went back outside to move his motorcycle and shot himself while getting off of it. The witness went back into the house to call a friend to transport Doty to the hospital. Police were dispatched to the area on a report of shots fired.
At the hospital, Doty told police the gun was in his front waistband and that he had forgotten he placed a round in the chamber. The gun went off as he was putting his motorcycle away, he told police. He also told them he had been drinking alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening. Doty was treated at the hospital and ordered into court.
