Springfield man accused of trying to steal beer three times in one day

A Springfield man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to rob a drive-thru and pizza business three times in one day.

Gary D. Authenreith, 60, of 114 Fremont Ave., is facing one count of robbery. He’s expected to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Springfield police officers were called to Pizza & Stuff, 435 W. High St. on a robbery call at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

An employee told police Authenreith had twice attempted to steal beer from a cooler in the drive-thru area, but was stopped before he left the property and told not to return to the property.

Authenreith entered the business a third time and attempted to open the cooler, but was stopped by an employee who tried to get him off of the property. Authenreith hit the employee in the chest, but the employee and another witness were able to hold Authenreith until police arrived.

Authenreith was placed in the Clark County Jail.
