Springfield man accused of striking mom with cane over drug money

A Springfield man is facing domestic violence charges after he allegedly struck his mother with a walking cane because she wouldn’t give him money for drugs.

Franklin L. Wilson, 31, pleaded not guilty in the Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday. Bond was set at $1,000.

Springfield Police Division officers were sent to a home in the 1300 block of West Jefferson Street about a domestic violence complaint.

The woman had blood running down her face from a cut on her forehead and was being attended to by Wilson, according to a police report. Wilson’s face and shirt allegedly were also covered in blood. He allegedly told police the woman walks unsteadily and that as she was walking back to a chair, she fell on the floor and struck her head on a walking cane next to it.

Once she entered the medic unit, the victim told police Wilson was angry because she wouldn’t give him money to purchase drugs. Wilson then allegedly struck the victim in the forehead with a walking cane, she told police. A witness also confirmed the victim’s story to police.

Wilson was placed in the Clark County Jail.
