A Springfield man faces multiple charges after police alleged he threw a rock through the window of a moving car, spraying glass all over three children.

Matthew Markley, 27, was arrested Saturday after getting into an argument with a woman he knows, breaking the glass out of the front door to their home, according to a police report.

The woman then placed the children in a van and drove north on Belmont Avenue. Markley followed on foot and allegedly threw a rock through a passenger side window, police said, shattering it and spraying glass all over the children.

Markley was later arrested by police. He told police he didn’t throw the rock, but his friend did it and said the woman was lying about the incident, according to the report.

Markley plead not guilty in court on Monday morning and bond was set at $5,000. He faces one felony charge of vehicular vandalism and three misdemeanor child endangering charges.
