Shatoya Hawthorne, 29, of 1706 Magnolia St., was charged with two counts of drug possession, two counts of drug trafficking, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and carrying concealed weapons, according to court records.
Hawthorne was pulled over by a deputy from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at about 1 p.m. Thursday near Race and Broadway streets for allegedly having improper window tint and a failure to signal a lane change. As deputies were searching the car, a K-9 officer signaled to his deputy handler that drugs were possibly in the vehicle.
Deputies searched the vehicle and allegedly found a backpack with a bag of cocaine and crack, as well as scales and a loaded handgun. A second scale and baggies were also found in the car.
Hawthorne appeared in the Clark County Municipal Court on Friday morning and pleaded not guilty. Bond was set at $35,000.
