A man died and a woman was taken to Miami Valley Hospital following a shooting in Champaign County. Here is the latest information obtained by the Springfield News-Sun.

Police arrived to an ‘active shooter’ situation

Officers were dispatched to to a home in the 9800 block of Loveless Road in Mechanicsburg on the report of a gunshot wound at around 1:40 p.m Sunday. When they arrived, the officers reported an active shooter situation, according to scanner traffic. Shortly afterward, they relayed the situation was contained.

Two victims with gunshot wounds

Champaign County Sheriff Matt Melvin identified the man who died as Joe Hooper, 51. The other victim, Pamelia Hooper, 48, was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with critical injuries. There has not been an update on her condition.

Shooter still unclear

Police would not release details regarding the incident at the scene of the shooting. It was unclear if one of the victims was the shooter in the incident or if the police were searching for a suspect.
