Clark-Shawnee Local Schools leaders are still deciding if and when to resume the high school baseball season.

Superintendent Gregg Morris said Wednesday that the district has opened an internal investigation of the school’s baseball team because of allegations involving student athletes. While Morris declined to say what the allegations are, he said that they reportedly took place during the team’s spring break trip to Tennessee.

At least one parent told the Springfield News-Sun that she believed students were harmed during the incident.

No new information was available about the investigation Thursday, district spokeswoman Megan Anthony said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s report says deputies are assisting with the investigation and describes it as harassment. Clark County Chief Deputy Travis Russell declined Wednesday to detail the allegations, saying only that that they’re serious.

Russell said Thursday the office had no comment and that it’s still an ongoing investigation.

The school district has cancelled multiple baseball games in the wake of the allegations and Morris said the school was interviewing players and parents Wednesday.

The school is now trying to decide when should the baseball team should be allowed back on the field. The team was scheduled to take on Indain Lake High School on Thursday, but Anthony said all after-school activities are cancelled due to the weather.

The baseball schedule indicates that the next game is supposed to be Monday against Kenton Ridge High School. No decision has been made for that game, Anthony said, or for any other game at this point.

The Tecumseh Athletic Department tweeted Wednesday that a game against Shawnee had been cancelled Wednesday and rescheduled for Friday. The Springfield News-Sun has learned that the tweet was in error and that Tecumseh was supposed to play a different school.
