RELATED: Clark County sheriff’s ‘ghost’ unit targets drugs
The couple was pulled over on Sept. 22 by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office “ghosted” unit. It’s a new cruiser paid for by drug forfeiture money. The new cruiser is black and gray and has the words “Paid for by Your Local Drug Dealers” on it.
According to court records, the couple’s car was pulled over because of a damaged plate on the front of the vehicle. When the plate was run in the system, it allegedly came back as a stolen. The deputy later found the vehicle at a local gas station and the plate appeared to be correct but the “C” looked like a “G.”
The deputy alleged he noticed a marijuana smell coming from the vehicle and asked the driver, Cobb, for his identification, but he said he didn’t have any.
The passenger, McClain, was then asked to step out of the vehicle. The deputy noticed a backpack with a box of bags hanging out of it. Inside allegedly was a jar of marijuana, a bag of marijuana scales and a box of bags, according to court records. A form of marijuana called “moon rocks” were allegedly found inside McClain’s purse.
A total of about 45 grams of marijuana was allegedly found, according to court records. Money also was found in various places in the car, as were several cell phones.
Three children under the age of 5 also were inside the car.
The children were removed from their custody. Cobb and McClain were ordered to appear in Clark County Municipal Court this week to face the charges. McClain pleaded not guilty but Cobb didn’t appear and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
