Bullets hit home, car in Springfield

A home and a car were each struck with bullets in Springfield over the weekend, according to a police report.

A Springfield woman was awoken by gun fire at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning outside her home in the 700 block of Summer Street, the report said. The woman didn’t see the suspect, but heard a vehicle speeding out of the area. She told police a neighbor has had an ongoing issue with someone and it’s not the first time shots have been fired in the street.

Several multiple caliber spent shell casings were found at the scene, the report said, meaning at least two different firearms were used.

A neighbors’ car was struck four times, while the home was struck three times, the report said. No one was injured.
