Now Clark County has a chapter of the SPCA.
Krissi Hawke, director of the Clark County SPCA, said she brought the organization here to fill some gaps in services.
The Clark County Humane Society recently split from the county dog wardens, and Hawke said that means there wasn’t an animal cruelty investigator in the county anymore.

“They need a voice and somebody needs to stand up for them and be there for them,” Hawke said.
Humane Society Director Roger Ganley said he's supportive of the new local shelter in town.
“There's so many neglected animals here in this county, it's sickening. So the more the merrier,” Ganley said.
Hawke said she’s still working toward getting an occupancy certificate so that members of the public can come and view the animals. Currently, she has to do all adoptions off-site.
