Springfield grocery store to close permanently today

One of two Save A Lot grocery stores in Springfield will close its doors for good today.

The Save A Lot located at 2125 Park Road will close at 2 p.m. today, May 23, according to the person who answered the store’s phone and identified himself as the store’s manager. The store also closed early Wednesday, at 5 p.m.

The Park Road Save A Lot is one of two in Springfield. The other Save A Lot is located at 2105 E. Main St.

The Springfield News-Sun reached out to Save A Lot corporate offices and was told that someone would respond to our request for information about the store closing. We are waiting to hear back and will provide an update when we have more details.

According to Save A Lot’s website, the grocery store chain currently has 1,280 locations across the country.
