Popular Springfield bakery to close

A popular Springfield bakery is set to close after nearly four years, according to information posted to its Facebook page.

Jazzy Cakes & More opened in 2014 at 1605 E. Main St., a building that previously held the Whipper Snappers business. Jasmine Stream, the bakery's owner, declined to comment for the story.

But the family-owned bakery told customers on its Facebook page that it plans to close later this month.

“It is with extreme heavy hearts that we are writing this post,” the page says. “Since 2014 we have been blessed to be a part of your celebrations. We have enjoyed serving the community and developing relationships with all of you. Jazzy Cakes & More’s final day will be Feb. 24, 2018. We are looking forward to one last holiday with you.”

The business focused on specialty cakes, Stream told the Springfield News-Sun when the bakery opened. It also offered a wide variety of cupcakes, brownies, cookies, caramel apples and chocolate-covered pretzels, among other items.
